Once in a Blue Moon

IMAG0116

I can’t believe it. I have been working in the food service industry a long time now, and Friday nights are just something you know you have to work. But, someway, somehow the gods have spoken, and  I now OFFICIALLY have Friday nights off from here on out!  Can we take a moment? I think I am getting teary eyed.

Having Fridays off, is something I have only in a blue moon. And I can’t believe how ironic it is, that the first Friday off is ON a blue moon. I mean seriously? Are stars lining up there or what! So, Im not rushing out on a night on the town for my first Friday night off. Yeah, I’m actually staying home. But that doesn’t mean I am not going to have some fun, and you know that I HAVE to drink some Blue Moon Ale  for sure! Actually, we used it in some of our cooking as well!

I lightly browned up a couple of turkey bruats and added them to a simmering broth using one Blue moon, 2 cups chicken broth, 3 smashed cloves of garlic, table spoon of peppercorns,1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon,  and rind and juice of 1 orange.
I had a “complete” cheese biscuit mix that I subbed some blue moon for the water and added a handful of blue cheese crumbles, and about as teaspoon of dried dill. The orange extract was for my cupcake icing, don’t know how it snuck into the picture!

Well now that everything is cooking……

For a little flavah, I made a DELICIOUS sweet mustard using whole grain Dijon mustard fig preserves
(2 to 1 ratio)

Finished off with some fresh greens with orange bits, blue cheese crumbles and a little poppy seed dressing.
A sad little red velvet cupcake topped with whipped icing with orange extract and zest.

After dinner we noticed the moon was finally visible and popped out side to take a few amateur shots then run around in the dark like crazy people, because we are immature like that.
